Dear Valued Customer,

The Do-Not-Disturb service (DND) setup by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) allows Telecom customers to opt out of receiving promotional messages from 3rd Party like Bulk SMS, VAS promos, etc.

This means that if you are currently on DND, you will NOT be able to receive third-party SMS. While this may be a welcome development due to the abuse of the third-party bulk SMS services. Even if you do get SMS delivered to such numbers, the Sender ID may be changed to rUPDATE, rNOTIFY, INFODESK, INFINITI etc or even a phone number.

When your phone number is on DND, you will NO LONGER receive notification from all services that send notifications or alerts via third-party SMS services. This includes:

+ Job or Interview notification or invitation
+ General occasion invitations like Weddings, Birthdays or other social events
+ Examination PINs purchased online or Result notification (like JAMB, WAEC, NECO, etc)
+ Electricity PINs from the third-parties that sell on behalf of the Electricity Distribution Companies
+ Transaction update for online purchases
+ Updates from your school, institution or that of your children
+ Notification and update from your religious organization
+ General Community alerts (eg Community alert by some NGOs during the Ebola epidemic)

The above list is not exhaustive. If you are missing any of the above messages and will like to start receive them, you will need to unsubscribe from the DND service by doing the following:

For MTN Lines:
Send STOP to 2442
After 5 Minutes, Send ALLOW to 2442.

For AIRTEL lines:
Send STOP to 2442
After 5 Minutes, Send OUT to 2442.

For GLO Lines:
Send STOP to 2442
After 5 Minutes, Send CANCEL to 2442.

For ETISALAT Lines:
Send STOP to 2442
After 5 Minutes, Send START to 2442.

For OTHER NETWORKS:
Send STOP to 2442
After 5 Minutes, Send ALLOW to 2442.

The SMS to 2442 is FREE! If after this process, you are still not receiving third-party SMS, you should contact your telecom service provider.
